numerous invitees, their families and other interested visitors had

were the engaging, foot-tapping performances of a popular Omani youth
band.

witnessed," remarked a visitor, quite amazed at the clockwork
precision with which everything was happening. "The ambience of the
location and the feel of the car have meshed in beautifully. Kudos to
your team!" he added.

to Yaris Touch N Try

mania. This seems to be the latest phenomenon sweeping across Oman.
Within weeks of being launched in Oman, the sporty, brand new 1.3
litre Yaris Sedan, the latest offering from Toyota has rapidly climbed
the charts to be acknowledged as the most happening thing on four
wheels. A fact further backed by the record sales of 100 plus vehicles
registered on the day one of the launch.
With Toyota and Saud Bahwan Automotive LLC, you can now avail a first
hand opportunity to experience the brand from the best seat in the
house –the driving seat. Starting mid March, car enthusiasts, serious
buyers, students and even casual passers by have had the opportunity
to participate in a novel Touch n Try test drive campaign at various
city hot spots.
The first phase of this campaign has already been executed in Muscat.
Hundreds of enthusiasts thronged the special Yaris booth at Jawaharat
Al Shatti, Al Araimi Complex and CCC, Qurum over the last fortnight.
Consultants from Toyota assisted them as they stepped up the gas on
dream machine to enjoy its sporty pick up and power, easy
manoeuvrability, and parking convenience.
“ I simply loved the pick up and zip that I got out of the vehicle as
I drove alongside Qurum Beach.” said one 18 year old student,
spellbound by the responsive 84 HP Engine of the Yaris. Commenting on
the Electronic Power Steering and the 4 Speed Automatic Transmission,
another young girl exclaimed, “ It’s as smooth as butter. I’ve never
driven a more comfortable car. Also, it parks like a dream.” Smitten
by its Stylish Exteriors crafted at Toyota’s European Design Studio, a
young interior designer commented “This car seems custom made for me -
much trendier than my dad’s car”. With such an encouraging response,
it comes as no surprise that sales of this vehicle have shown a
constant upswing over the weeks.
Given the sporty and youthful image of the Yaris, Toyota now plans to
conduct Phase II of the Touch n Try at the Sultan Qaboos University,
as also campuses of various popular colleges all through April.
Students can look forward to test drive the new Yaris Sedan on campus.

YARIS SEDAN ARRIVES WITH A
BANG!
The born winner, the head turner and breathtakingly new sedan called
Yaris is finally here. Its on view in all its magnificent glory, at
all Toyota Showrooms. Taking its pride of place with its sibling Yaris
Hatch Back model, which launched last year by Saud Bahwan Group, the

The Yaris History
The Yaris name sounds weird until it's explained. It's Toyota's
variation of Charis, which is a Greek word for grace, and was the
name, in Greek mythology, of a goddess of fertility, art and beauty.

First launched in Europe in 1999, the Yaris was named the 2000
European “Car of the Year”. Ever since its inception Yaris has taken
the Europe by storm, presenting a fresh youthful face of Toyota and

the same vehicle captured both honors in the same year.

The side view produces vibrant and modern proportions with its long
and curved belt line.
The New Yaris Sedan rides on an all-new platform that is longer and
wider than its European predecessor, and will be the basis for a wide
variety of future vehicles. Yaris construction includes high-tensile
steel, creating a lightweight yet rigid body to help enhance driving
control and responsive steering. Reduced NVH is made possible with the
application of damping materials in strategic locations throughout the
vehicle.

Spanking New Exterior
The Yaris Sedan features a strong, modern mono-form shape made
possible by its short overhangs and a low center of gravity exuding a
youthful and proud stance. The Yaris Sedan has a long stretched cabin
with an arched beltline and its tires pushed outward at each corner. A
four corner tire positioning gives the vehicle a wide & stable form. A
beautiful V zone from the hood to the bumper, imparts sturdy yet Fresh
new look to the Sedan.
The youthful “T” face grille, which emphasizes the Toyota identity
along with the Integrated bumpers and attractive headlamp give the
Yaris Sedan a modern and sophisticated look. In the rear, the 3
dimensional taillights merge with a wide trunk. The trunk extends down
to the bumper molding, which provides a more substantial appearance
and allows for easy trunk access.
The Yaris sedan rides on 175/65 R14 tires with steel wheels and full
wheel covers while the wider 185/60 R15 tires with Stylish Alloy
wheels provide Yaris with more aggressive appearance. The Yaris Sedan
is designed to appeal to buyers looking for sporty styling. Side
rocker panels, front and rear under bumper spoilers, Color-keyed grip
type door handles and rear view mirrors contribute to the Sedans
consistent profile from front to rear. Outer molding has been
eliminated from the windshield and door glass to help enhance
aerodynamics and reduce wind noise.
Spacious and Thoughtful Interior:
With the longest wheelbase among key competitors, the Yaris Sedan
interior conveys a feeling of spaciousness and unexpected refinement
not usually found in a subcompact. The front dash is designed with
center-mounted instrumentation, which is integrated with a stylish
silver-painted center console. Storage and cup holders are in
abundance, front and rear.
The Yaris Sedan has rear seating for three with headrests in each
seating position. The outstanding feature of the rear leg space is
that there are no tunnels & it has a flat floor, thus vastly improving
the passenger comfort. The top grade model is equipped with a 60/40
fold down rear seats with a fold-down center armrest and cup holder.
Folding the 60/40 split rear seats enlarges the trunk capacity,
providing nearly 14 cubic feet of total cargo space and makes it easy

easy-to-reach audio and climate controls, an array of storage spaces
including a center console with built-in storage, and cup holders in
the front and rear. The instrument cluster is center-mounted, high on
the dash providing easy reach and visibility.
Standard convenience features Yaris Sedan include Air conditioner and
Heater, Tilt steering wheel, a gated shift lever (automatic
transmission only), Green UV cut rear & Side Glasses, digital clock, a
map light, intermittent windshield wipers with mist control, and dual
sun visors with vanity mirrors.
Fun-To-Drive Performance and Handling
Powering the Yaris Sedan will be a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with
variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) that will produce 84
horsepower (SAE Net) at 6,000 RPM and 12.3 Kg-m torque at 4,200 RPM.
The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or with a four-speed
automatic transmission with “Gate Type” Shift lever. The sophisticated
design assists with accurate shifting & prevents shifting errors.
Yaris fuel efficiency will be among the highest in the subcompact
segment. A preliminary EPA fuel economy mpg rating for the Yaris Sedan
is very impressive. In addition to its exceptional fuel efficiency,
Yaris will be EPA-certified as an Ultra-Low Emission vehicle (ULEV
II).
Yaris will ride on a strong, stiffer chassis thanks to a newly
developed suspension that includes a rigid L-arm MacPherson strut
front and rear torsion beams. The stiff suspension and retuned
steering gear ratios help to deliver fun-to-drive handling and
excellent maneuverability with a class leading turning radius. As one
example of Toyota’s focus on continually improved production
techniques, a new torsion beam in the rear suspension provides
necessary anti-roll stabilization, eliminating the need for a separate
anti-roll bar.
The new suspension interlinked with Electric power steering smoothly
assists control according to road speed to produce light steering at
low speed & appropriately heavy feel at higher speeds, thus ensuring a
superior control and precision while maneuvering the vehicle.
Class Leading Safety
The new Yaris helps protect its occupants with a reinforced cabin
using front and rear crumple zones and energy-absorbing materials on
the roof and doors. Yaris will be equipped with height adjustable
headrests and three-point seatbelts in all five seating positions. The
front seatbelts on SPL grade include pre tensioners and force
limiters. The rear seat will be equipped with the Lower Anchors and
Tethers for Children (LATCH) uniform child restrain anchorage system.
Safety is also addressed with standard driver air bag on all grades,
additionally the top grade features front passenger dual-stage airbag
that inflate at a higher or lower speed, according to collision
severity.
All Yaris models will also offer Anti-Lock Brakes System (ABS) with
Brake Assist (BA) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) as a

(top grade) with MP3 readability and universal mini-jack port, a rear
window defogger, Key Remind Warning Buzzer, LCD type Combination
meter, Meter Illumination Control.
Also available on Sedan is a Power Package offering power locks,
windows, mirrors and Key Less Entry. With the Power Package consumers

Yaris will offer a choice of 8 different exterior colors Red Mica

Joins Toyota’s Galaxy Of Five-Star Models
Its dimensions may be compact, but the new generation Toyota Yaris has
proved itself every bit as robust as its larger stablemates with a top
safety rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP testing.
The Yaris, shortlisted for European Car of the Year, has been awarded
a full five stars for adult passenger protection, its score of 35
points matching the previous high total for a Toyota, set by the
Corolla Verso. It joins the Verso, Avensis and Prius in gaining the
five-star classification.
The achievement is a just reward for the skills Toyota’s designers and
engineers brought to building high safety standards into a vehicle of
relatively small dimensions. The very short front overhang presented a
particular challenge when it came to providing effective crash
protection, but the results speak for themselves.
The Yaris’s body structure was developed using Toyota’s Minimal
Intrusion Cabin System (MICS) technology. Front or side impact forces
are dispersed through the vehicle’s body, channelled away from the
passenger cell and minimising the amount of cabin deformation.
